“In spring 2025, Stephen Starr reopened The Occidental, Washington, D.C.’s most glamorous restaurant. To reimagine this Pennsylvania Avenue icon, he brought in designer Ken Fulk, who dreamed up a theatrical dining environment, and asked me to create a mural for ‘The Mural Room,’ the upstairs dining space. The concept was a wild D.C. party from a bygone era, one that never actually happened but could have. The mural features more than 260 characters (human and animal) and is provocative, irreverent, and full of fun. A dream project.”
